Seven Pounds DVD Now Released

Seven Pounds, the new Will Smith movie, is now available for home viewing on DVD. The concept is related to Shakespeare’s punitive “pound of flesh”. Lead character, Tim Thomas, is determined to atone for killing seven people, including his fiancée, in an automobile accident. His seven pounds is paid over a couple years by donations of various body parts, and his home, to seven people he has hand picked as deserving.

Rather than selfishly just committing suicide, he embarks on his long journey with a broad plan in mind that he will give of himself gifts that are priceless. A lung, a kidney, part of his liver, and bone marrow bring new life to four recipients. A homeless victim of abuse receives Tim’s home, and the final two worthy recipients get new vision and a new heart. His final act of love frees him from his guilt, while apparently bringing the final two persons together in a possible love match.

The movie puts a new twist of irony into the guilt trip and payback scheme, as what began as tragedy and loss of love converts to bring life and love to seven others, while costing Tim Thomas the ultimate price
